First it helps to have a friend with a third floor balcony overlooking a broad expanse and the phenomenon of global climate change.  Plop the camera on a tripod, drop the ISO as low as it will go, stop down, use the self-timer to avoid camera shake and let ‘er rip.  This one (actually two exposures layered) is a 20 second exposure, ISO 50 at f22 using a Nikon D610 with a Nikkor 16-35mm zoom.
