High Line Winter Style

Posted: March 23, 2015 in Fashion, Photography

My recent week in NYC was mainly spent with family, but I did manage a winter walk (five inches of snow the day I arrived) on the High Line. Street shooting in NYC is an exhausting experience. For every 1000 cooperative people you get slammed by the one introvert that a) doesn’t want their picture taken, b) is so vain that every frame puts them in a “false light,” c) questions your motives and tells you you that you are violating their Constitututional rights, d) fill-in your worst nightmare. Too be fair NYC is one of the greatest cities in the world and some of the reasons it is challenging is that there are so many great photographers there, it is a visual wonderland with total sensory overload, and the population density guarantees that you will run into a jerk (or be perceived as one). Above style snap was taken with Nikon D610 with Nikkor 105mm f2.0.

Funky Town

Always fun to see friends return to town.  Polyphonic Anthony is back from NOLA to play his funky music in the Delmar Loop. Photo tip — use a low angle to isolate the subect — “nothing but blue skies…” as the song goes.
