_JRM8852 Strolling along Dundas West I was struck by the stark colors of this (to me, boring) street scene, but I thought to myself, “haven’t I seen boring stark scenes by renowned photographers in galleries?”  So I took the snap.  Funny, I don’t think I could ever come up with an “artist statement” to justify this.  And on top of that, it made me realize that many of the pics I have seen in galleries and museums really were outstanding and that making the mundane meaningful is hard —  or as I said to myself, “D’oh!” Coincidently I saw this article in PDN, “Is The Art World Biased Against Commercial Photographers?”
